Myths and Legends

    They kill birds don’t they?

When people hear the phrase wind turbine they conjure up images of large offshore wind farms massacring whole flocks. Not only is it untrue of wind farms but even less so for small domestic turbines. Bird strikes do happen very rarely. Cars, windows and natural predators kill millions more birds than a wind turbine ever has or will do. In fact Green Generation are pleased to have installed a mid sized turbine on behalf of the Norfolk Wildlife Trust at their Wild fowl site at Cley Marshes.

    Everyone says they’re are noisy

Our smallest machine only produces 40 dBA at a wind speed of 5 m/s. To put that in context a car passing you 65 feet away at around 40mph will produce 70-80dBA. Our biggest machine only produces 48dBA.

    They interfere with electrical equipment

    No interference whatsoever.

    They produce radiation/electromagnetic fields

    None at all

    They affect epilepsy sufferers

There is no link between our wind turbines and epilepsy.

    They harm animals

These machines have been installed on farms, in nature reserves and equestrian centres across the UK without any affect on the local inhabitants.
