The amount of energy a wind turbine can produce is dependent on three main factors
The amount of wind available
The size of the generator
The amount of wind that a turbine can potentially capture
The last means that a turbine with a large potential wind capture (known as swept area) can produce more energy than a turbine with a larger generator.
The Gaia 133 11kW turbine is such a machine. The Gaia blades have a diameter of 13m, which gives a swept area of 133m2 , this is more than double that of machines with much larger generators, and yet on low to medium wind speed sites the Gaia will out perform the larger machine.
Only available for sites with a 3 phase electrical supply.
Typical installed cost £48000 - £52000 dependent on site specifics and tower chosen.
